Mercure Quimper Centre

I was given a free room upgrade, and the room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. The staff were friendly too. There was a kettle and a small fridge, but no milk for tea or coffee.

A good value place to stop, with really helpful, friendly staff. It's close to the centre of Quimper, and there's a small, tight car park on site that's handy to have.

The bathroom was okay, and at least it had a bathtub. Most of the rest of my one-night stay felt a long way below what I'd expect from a 4-star hotel, especially for the price. I won't recommend it, and I'll generally avoid MERCURE Hotels when I can. I only ended up there because something had gone wrong with my plans. I may add a video later, after editing out personal details. The room cost 131€, but the TV was off to one side of the bed rather than opposite it. I was alone; in a couple, the person nearer the window would have an awkward viewing angle. The Smart TV features weren't enabled, and although the phone instructions said outside calls should work, I couldn't make any. When I went to reception that evening to order food, I asked if I could take the reheated frozen pizza back to my room as room service. The receptionist said, "no tonight i cant," so I had to wait at the desk and carry it upstairs myself. The hotel has no restaurant. Only the salt worked in the salt and pepper shakers, which were cheap plastic ones. The toilet paper was the cheapest kind, and the sheets were so thin I needed loads of them and worried they might tear. There was a funny moment on the terrace when Elodie, a cleaning force employee, and I got locked outside by a door that shuts and locks with no way to open it from outside. This is a 4-star hotel, after all. Luckily, my room was on that floor and I'd left the window open, so I climbed back in and let Elodie in. She was genuinely kind and chatted with me during her break. The heater seemed clogged or just couldn't get the room to the temperature I wanted. There's nowhere to dry clothes except with the hair dryer, which isn't suited to the job, even though Quimper has a very rainy climate.

We had a friendly, helpful welcome and enjoyed the breakfast. The car park is beneath the hotel, which is useful, though a little tricky to navigate.
