The meals alone made this stay memorable: everything was fresh, full of flavour and cooked just right. The host, Daphnis, was hilarious, welcoming, and made us feel like royalty. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Chemin De L'aviette in Givet has an incredible atmosphere, with beautiful grounds and the feel of a film set. It was so relaxing, and easily the best château stay we’ve had. If you’re near Givet, don’t miss it. 11/10, and we’ll definitely be back.

That terrace looks made for friends to gather and families to spend time together, and the river gate is so handy. The grounds feel like a playground for adults and families of all ages. I’m getting in line for the waiting list, I’m sure everyone who’s seen the terrace is eager for it to be ready. Even with the cold rain, you welcomed us so warmly. You showed us the lounge and dining room, then let us choose between the two bedrooms. Both were beautifully designed, practical for guests, and spotless. It was lovely meeting you, Daphne, your husband, and especially your two wonderful children. Thank you for having us, and for giving us so much of your time. Next time, either I’ll need to improve my French or your husband will need to improve his English. I loved talking hunting with him.

Right beside the river, this beautifully restored château was comfortable and friendly. Givet's centre is an easy walk or a short drive away. A peaceful, relaxing place to stay, and one I’d recommend.

The quiet grounds were beautiful, and I wish we’d had longer to explore them. Inside, our room was clean and nicely decorated, and the fully remodeled bathroom was lovely. It was a welcome break from the city’s hustle and bustle. The owners and staff made us feel at home, almost like we were visiting family. Before dinner, we had drinks with the other guests in the billiard room by a warm fire, then shared a great meal in the dining room. Since it was our honeymoon, we sat at our own table, but everyone toasted us from across the room. By breakfast the next morning, we already knew the people we’d met at dinner. We loved our stay.

After a day walking, it was lovely to unwind and chat in the cozy bar. Dinner was delicious and nicely presented, and the hosts were super friendly. The castle sits in a very peaceful spot overlooking the Meuse, with a big garden and two sweet little children. Givet is about 3 km away by a cycle path along the Meuse, which you can walk or cycle. A great choice for a quiet, luxurious stay.
