Breakfast had plenty of choice, and the service was friendly. The room had a separate toilet and bathroom, plus a handy shelf for charging phones, though you had to take off its cover first. At night, the fan was noisy and made it hard to sleep. Reception gave us a remote to adjust the heat, but getting the room comfortable was difficult, especially overnight. It feels like the hotel has what you need, but could do more.

The shower was excellent, and the room had been designed well despite being really tiny, with hardly anywhere to put things. The refurbished building looks striking and the work is finished to a very high standard.

At least the staff forgot to charge us for the three beers from the night before, which is the one extra star. Otherwise, the sheets looked so dirty they shouldn't have been used, and the room was very cold. We had to let the water run for five minutes before it got warm. Breakfast was expensive and had very little choice. I wouldn't recommend it.

We were a family of four stopping over on the way to the Eurotunnel, and regretted staying almost straight away. The room was the smallest we've had, and even the door only opened partway. Everything felt worn and dirty, and the menu was way overpriced. Don't stay here.

10/10
The evening meal was excellent, and the staff were attentive, caring, and helpful. We ordered breakfast for the next day, and it was prepared just right. The rooms felt a little tired but were clean. Public areas were comfortable and well kept, with social distancing organised well. There was enough parking, and I'd happily stay again.
