We booked directly and got a better price. The room was roomy, clean, and comfortable, and dinner was a real highlight: generous, tasty dishes at good value. It’s a welcoming family-run place right in the centre of this charming town. I’d happily recommend it for a relaxing stay.

We had the three-course set menu for €34 each. The salmon and avocado starter was fresh, and the fish was lovely too. My white fish with yuzu was delicious; my husband’s salmon with mussels and shrimp was good. The macarons and myrtle Craquant desserts were fantastic. The owner was friendly and helped us pick a great wine. Our double room was a good size and clean, with a huge bathroom, an over-bath shower, and a separate toilet. The decor is dated, but at €75 it was fine for a one-night stop.

I only ate at the restaurant and didn’t stay at the hotel. It wasn’t a good experience for me. Two days later I got food poisoning. I suspect it may have been the clam, since the other one was closed and I didn’t open it, or the steak tartare.

The buffet breakfast had plenty of variety, and the restaurant food was tasty. My room was clean and the bed comfortable. The place has a good atmosphere, and the hotel staff were kind and helpful. I sincerely recommend it.

The pipes kept making noise even with the heating turned off. And that memory foam mattress felt like sleeping in an elephant’s hole. A hotel’s basic job is to give you somewhere to sleep, and this one failed at it.
