Hôtel Bristol Reims

The location was great, but the room looked so dirty that my family and I left early. There were stains on the wall and no soap for washing our hands. I hate writing harsh reviews, but this place needs work and doesn't deserve its three-star rating. If all you need is a cheap place to sleep, this hostel-like hotel might suit you.

The reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the nearby parking felt safe, clean and bright. It's just across the road and costs €17 for 24 hours. For a longer stay, pay at the hotel before leaving the car park, then 48 hours costs €21. Our room was spacious, with a very large, comfy bed. The decor wasn't bright or modern, but it was fine and didn't seem due for redecoration. The bathroom and towels were clean, and the shower was very good. The duvet had some marks that hadn't come out in the wash, but it didn't look unclean. There were coffee pods in the room, and they gave us more when we asked. We visited in July 2025, a bit wary because of the low Maps rating, but were quite happy for a three-star hotel.

Sarah at the front desk made us feel welcome straight away. She was patient, accommodating and very professional. She explained how to get to the champagne tasting we were there for, and told us about the music festival that night. The room was clean, had good air conditioning and enough space, though there was no view and we didn't mind. We only spent one night in Reims, but Hotel Bristol was welcoming and we'd go back. Our main problem was the air in the courtyard-facing rooms. Their windows open onto a narrow shaft that carries strong kitchen smells, so opening them brought in grease and smoke; shutting them left the rooms stuffy, with little daylight. It made the rooms feel unhealthy and claustrophobic for this price. We had three rooms at Le Bristol for two nights, and all of them were affected. I’d avoid rooms ending in 4 or 6, such as 104, 106, 204, or 206, until the hotel fixes these ongoing ventilation issues. The staff seemed to know about the problem, but hadn't warned us and were defensive when we raised it. We asked to change rooms or get a refund, and were told that was possible only if we left right away. That wasn't workable because nearby hotels were fully booked. A partial refund for one night in one room was nowhere near enough when all three rooms were unsuitable for a normal stay. What should have been a relaxing weekend became uncomfortable and frustrating.
