We speak French, so we knew what to expect from the menu, but this simple meal turned into a ruined evening. We skipped the day's special, horse steak and fries, and chose snails to start. They seemed to be supermarket frozen ones, and the bread was stale despite a bakery being just 10 metres away. The dorade with rocroi cheese cost 15 euros and arrived as fish sitting in watery liquid with a few vegetables and a slice of cheese on top. It looked as unappetizing as it tasted. The salad was only a few leaves and tomatoes with bottled balsamic. When we complained, the waitress wasn't pleased and the chef was even less so. He said he always made it that way and blamed the liquid on the vegetables, which seemed to be two orange slices, presumably carrot. Then he walked off to get support from people at the bar. There was no apology. They did take one dish off the bill, but the meal was still a disaster.

We didn't stay overnight, but did visit the town. A lot of motorcyclists meet here, as there are good roads in and out, and the walled town is pleasant to walk around.

Swift Spares and Services Ltd stayed here for eight nights. We had a fantastic time, with excellent food and staff. Would definitely recommend it.

We enjoyed the food, and the price was good too. They seemed a bit short-staffed, so we waited a while when the front terrace got busy. Give the rocroy menu a try.
