Mercure Rodez Cathedrale

From the superior room, we had a small fridge, a Nespresso machine and a kettle. It was comfortable and quiet despite the very central location, with a view of the cathedral. There are only two hotel parking spots, though you can pull up out front to unload bags. Garage Foch is a 5-8 minute walk away, with outdoor and underground spaces. We parked from 5 pm until noon the next day for €10. We skipped breakfast. Rodez was a lovely town, and I’d stay at the Mercure again.

I always enjoy being in Rodez, and staying at the Mercure in the center is part of that. A few good restaurants are within a 300-meter walk, and Aveyron is worth the trip for its scenery and food, even though it’s away from the usual tourist route in France. I’ve stayed here about four times, at least twice since January for work, and our group comes when visiting our French headquarters. The room is clean, comfortable and updated, though nothing special. I’d personally prefer a softer pillow. Breakfast has the usual French basics, plus eggs, so there’s more than the standard continental spread we’re used to in the US. The staff are warm and helpful, as I’ve found people running businesses in Rodez and the surrounding area. They greet you with a smile and help you feel at ease even if you don’t speak French.

Restaurants and shops are close by, and the staff were friendly. The location is nicely central. The hotel parking is very small, so with a large car you’d probably be better using the public car park nearby.

The reception staff are very friendly, and the rooms are nicely done. It’s easy to spend time in the pleasant surrounding area, with most attractions close enough to reach on foot. The hotel is so central you’re unlikely to miss it. There are very few spaces if you have a rental car, but you can park nearby. If I had one small complaint, the breakfast could be better.
