Le Clos des Cigales

We spent two nights at Le Clos des Cigales, about 2 km down the hill from Bonnieux. It’s a beautiful, quiet property, and the grounds and pool were great places to unwind after a long day walking. Our room was comfortable, with double doors opening onto a small sitting area facing the pool. We asked Philippe about renting bikes, and he suggested the nearby campsite. Sure enough, we rented some for a day and rode to Apt for the Saturday market. The breakfast tarts his wife makes are amazing, and Philippe is a gracious, kind, funny host. Great location and very good value.

The rooms are lovely, the setting is peaceful, and there's a swimming pool. It's excellent value for money. Phillipe also went out of his way to help when I sprained my ankle. He called a few physios, and when none had appointments, he asked which medical centre would be the best fit. We were very grateful, and it saved us a lot of time.

We’ve been coming back for years, including after Covid, because the Luberon and Le Clos des Cigales remain favourites of ours. Our room was simple and comfortable, with a little terrace looking out over the peaceful pool and pine wood. Phillipe is always friendly when serving breakfast on the communal terrace, and his breakfasts are simple and delicious. His tips for markets, restaurants, cafés, and morning or full-day outings have always worked out well for us. We’ve visited often over roughly the last twelve years and thoroughly recommend it.

We only stayed one night, but it was really peaceful, with a terrific breakfast and very warm, welcoming owners. The rooms are spacious and the pool area is beautiful, though rain meant we couldn't use it. It's far enough from town that walking there wouldn't be easy.
