Cit'hotel Atlantis

I needed somewhere in Royan for one night that would let me check in after 7 p.m., and Cit’Hotel Atlantis turned out to be just right. The room was modern and very clean, and the bathroom was amazing. The woman at reception was very polite. I didn't have time to try breakfast, so I can't comment on it. I'd definitely recommend this place.

I've stayed here many times over the past 10-plus years, through several changes of ownership and management. The rooms were refurbished in 2021, with wide 160 cm beds and rain showers, making an already good value stay even better for its category. It's an easy walk to the beach and downtown, which is especially handy in July and August when traffic in the area gets badly jammed. The hotel is quiet and clean, with no damp or stuffy smell, unlike many competing places I've experienced over the past 50 years, even in higher categories. Rooms have separate toilets, reliable Wi-Fi throughout, and no carpet, which is great if you have allergies. The staff are amazing. Breakfast is available on site and the homemade pastries look really nice, though I haven't tried it. Highly recommended.

The proprietor was charming and helpful, and the hotel was very clean and ideally placed for the beach and entertainment. We had a room on the third floor, which was a problem for me as I'm nearly 80, have medical issues, and there is no lift. The internet also didn't work in our room, which was inconvenient.

The bed was comfortable, and the hosts were nice. The bathroom, though, is old.
