We’ve stayed here before and will definitely return. Everything is very clean and professionally run, with great service. The chef is terrific, and the food was the best we had on vacation.

The owners are absolutely wonderful, and the location feels like a dream. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the food was both delicious and high quality. I’d absolutely recommend this bed and breakfast. It’s a real gem.

We had a fantastic week here and a really good experience. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and the rooms, along with the rest of the hotel, were super clean. The chef made the best dishes for both breakfast and dinner. We had a really good time!

Families, especially those with young children, should think carefully before booking this hotel. We were two adults traveling with three children aged 7, 4, and 1. The older children shared our bed, and we brought our own travel crib for the baby. We’ve used that arrangement at around a hundred hotels, guesthouses, and hostels before without a problem. We booked and paid for a triple room through a well-known platform, listing every family member during the reservation process. The booking, made a couple of days ahead, is documented in emails. The plan was a large bed for us and our 4-year-old, a small bed for our 7-year-old, and our portable crib for the baby. There was room for the crib, but the owners, Christophe and Naomi, refused to let us check in. Chris said verbally that they didn’t expect children at the hotel because they had no baby cribs there. It was shortly before 10 pm. The children were exhausted, the youngest was nearly asleep in our arms, and the baby was crying. Christophe shouted at and insulted us. Even after we insisted we wanted to stay and offered to pay for another room or any extra charge, we were told, “go away or I call the police.” We said they could call, while we looked for somewhere else to stay. Christophe didn’t call, and we eventually found another hotel about 20 minutes away. The owners’ attitude stayed aggressive, especially when Christophe came quickly toward us shouting that he didn’t want us in his hotel. We felt that Source de la Vallée had left three very young children outside in the street at 10 pm. We’ve traveled frequently with our children in Europe and Asia, including France, and have never had anything like this happen. In our experience, hotels and guesthouses usually find a way to make guests comfortable, regardless of age. Friends are not usually asked to pay for a separate room for children this young. The booking included everyone’s details, as it has on many previous trips across Europe. We are five EU citizens with passports, driving back to our home in Germany. Summer school holidays usually run until mid-September, so the “childcare argument” seems absurd. Google’s family icon in this review system even shows two parents and two children. The owners have repeatedly refused to refund our money. We paid 125€ for that triple room for the night and still want it back. To put it mildly, the owners were “excited” and “a little bit” unpleasant. Their attitude was not business friendly, and they didn’t seem experienced as travelers or hotel hosts. That might explain why their restaurant was almost empty on an excellent-weather Friday evening in August. I hope this account helps other families avoid a similar experience.
