The vegetarian options were fantastic, and I wanted to try everything on the menu. Such a lovely family-run place, with amazing food.

The countryside feels like a step back in time, with traditional smallholdings and no large-scale farming. We stayed in the depth of winter, and Gretha and Frank made sure we had super lodgings, delicious meals, and a wonderful breakfast that you’ll want to Instagram. The room’s loo, in Room 1, felt a wee bit too intimate to me as an Englishman, which is why I held back a star. Otherwise, fantastic, and we’d definitely return if we’re nearby.
