Hotel Saint Augustin

The small pool is really nice, and the building and facilities are adequate. But the lack of maintenance is serious. In the room, there was a strong musty smell in the green room, dust that clearly hadn’t been cleaned for a long time, no soap or shower gel, and the sheets seemed questionable. Another room had a major water leak, with a puddle already there when we arrived. Breakfast would be better left off: the bread wasn’t fresh, the orange juice was half empty, and the butter had expired in August.

The rooms were roomy and had all the comforts we needed, and the pool was just the right temperature. We had a fabulous stay with a wonderful host. A perfect gîte for relaxing.

We booked a room with breakfast, but when we arrived there was nobody there and we couldn’t reach them by phone. A helpful local resident was the only reason we managed to find somewhere nearby to stay. The hotel owner later promised in writing to refund our money, and we’ve been in touch by email since, but nothing has come through yet. This could definitely be considered fraud. Beware!

The price was far too high for what we got. There was nobody to welcome us, and the owner was impossible to reach, even after I left two messages. The room wasn’t clean, and the shared areas were just as filthy. The pool water was cloudy and the pool lacked maintenance and hygiene. There was no jacuzzi, slippers, or hair dryer, although the website listed them. Breakfast was for us to put together ourselves: not very fresh bread, butter, jam, a few apples and bananas, and that was it.
