The owners are friendly and helpful, and the building and rooms were well maintained. Breakfast, if you choose to add it, was very good. It’s a lovely base for exploring the wine country, though it’s remote, with wineries the only things within walking distance. You can settle in and enjoy the views, pool, books and games, or make your own dinner.

We spent three nights here, and I was already looking forward to coming back for another dose of serenity. The setting is peaceful, with a pool and surrounding area that make it easy to slip into the French way of life. Breakfast on the terrace, especially the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had, was a great start to the day. The hosts are thoughtful, caring and full of useful information, and the place is a gem in a spectacular location, within an easy drive of local highlights including St Emilion. I’ll certainly return.

The location makes it easy to visit the Bordeaux and Bergerac region, with plenty of nice restaurants and picturesque little towns nearby. The house is idyllic, the kind of place I’d buy if I could afford it. It feels like having your own luxury mansion, and it’s perfect for relaxing. There’s also a friendly cat and dog. If animals aren’t your thing, they’ll keep out of your way. I didn’t want to leave.

We’ve stayed here a few times now. It’s a cracking place in a beautiful spot, and Kiek manages it beautifully. We’ll be back.
