Ibis Budget Dijon ST Apollinaire

The location is great, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was disappointing, though, since most of the food had run out by 7.30am. Otherwise, very good.

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. We skipped breakfast, though it looked like plenty of other guests chose it. Basic, but it has what you need for a good night’s sleep and a morning shower, so it’s a good overnight stop when travelling through France.

The breakfast was passable, but the room was overcrowded, with queues for both food and tables. We asked if we could make tea using the machine in the breakfast room and were told yes. When we came back for tea later, we were told off for trying to use it. Our room wasn’t especially small, but the extra bed we didn’t need made it feel much worse. There were no bedside tables, no desk, and the window gave everyone in the car park a great view of us. The pillows were tiny and there were no spares. I know it’s an Ibis Budget, but it’s the worst one we’ve stayed in. We definitely won’t return here, and we’ll avoid Ibis Budget hotels in future too. I booked it thinking we’d stayed here before, but I’d confused it with the Holiday Inn Express 200m away. Maybe that hotel costs a little more, I don’t know, but it’s everything this Ibis should be and isn’t.

It’s close to the motorway, and the staff were friendly. The room was rather small, but okay for the price.
