I liked the friendly service and the simple home-cooked food selection, and there was more than enough parking. It's a small, traditional hotel that's privately owned and run. The rooms are clean, with a perfect ensuite, plug sockets, opening windows and views. A simple, old-fashioned place.

The owner was so friendly and welcoming that it made starting the day feel just right. We first stopped in for coffee while we were in the area for two weeks, and it was the best coffee around. After that, we came back most days for our daily fix. It was a lovely place to stop, and we'll miss our daily visits.

The village was neat and tidy, and there seemed to be plenty going on. The farmers market felt genuine, unlike the pretend ones in the UK, and everyone was so friendly. The hotel owner was really helpful and spoke English, and I loved her cuddly dog. All dogs are welcome. My room was basic but comfortable. The countryside I saw reminded me of Bedfordshire or the other shires. I expected something different, though plenty of other Brits seem to love it, since lots move here.
