The Originals City, Hôtel Ambacia, Tours Sud

The breakfast was tasty, though €9 each felt overpriced, especially since you pay before eating. The woman we spoke with spoke good English. We stayed one night, and for a budget hotel the quality was about what we expected for the price. There was no air conditioning, just a desk fan. The ground-floor windows were actually doors, so we didn't feel safe leaving them open. We also saw exposed cables and mould in the bathroom.

The door mirrors were good, but the stay itself was unpleasant. There was mould, holes in the ceiling, and only two plug sockets. No air conditioning, and the room wasn't practical. The beds weren't made. Wi-Fi took ages to connect, then barely worked. The staff seemed moody and weren't helpful.

The rooms are basic, but the beds are very good, and the evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was good too. The receptionists were lovely, as was the man who cleaned the dining and breakfast rooms. There weren't any tea or coffee facilities in the room, and the bar didn't open until 6 pm. Still, a very nice hotel.

The door between my room and the next one made a worrying sound at night. Whenever someone opened theirs, it sounded as if my door was opening too. I stayed for four days and couldn't wait to get home. Our bath towels weren't changed for about three days, and my sheet had a stain. I couldn't ask what had happened because the staff didn't understand any language other than French.
