Le Bois Joli Coeur

Waking up to birdsong and views across hundreds of palm trees was so peaceful. The owner is super friendly and helpful. It’s a simple, quiet spot that works well for camping, with a kitchen stocked with basic things and access to a BBQ. Definitely recommend it if that’s what you’re after.

The rooftop sits among the palm trees, and the campsite itself was clean, with welcoming shared spaces and tidy facilities. We turned up unexpectedly and late in our van, but they greeted us very warmly.

It rained for half our stay and was sunny for the other half. The site is lovely in good weather, with plenty of shelter when it rains. We had a quiet night, and the owners kept to themselves so we could enjoy our family time. The welcome was friendly, too. The children loved being outdoors and running around. There’s a little play area with a spring rocking horse, a basketball hoop, and a sandy spot for pétanque or molkky. The grounds are green and wooded. We stayed two nights in a tent and had the place to ourselves, which was especially comfortable. If there are several campers, though, the pitches are close together, as are the toilets and kitchen. The kitchen is in a lovely big gazebo, and there’s another covered space with lots of tables and benches. It has a kettle, filter coffee maker, microwave, fridge/freezer, wood stove and firewood, a large rice pot, and a container to keep food away from animals. They also provide bin bags, dish soap and sponges, plus a clothesline with several lines and clothespins. The toilets and showers are clean, and the water gets nice and hot. They’re not fancy, but comfortable, with room to move, a chair, a small shelf, hand soap, disinfectant wipes, and bins. We highly recommend it.
