Les Charmes de Carlucet

Salignac is a charming little village nearby, and the area around Les Charmes de Carlucet is gorgeous. Our accommodation was super comfortable, with a lovely pool and BBQ, and the Wi-Fi was good enough for streaming. Since we stayed for a month, having a great laundry was a real help. Kerry and Tomas looked after us with five-star service, from weekly cleaning and restaurant reservations to day trip ideas and kitchen needs. We’ll definitely visit again. Five stars for the service and the accommodation!

I was sorry to leave and can’t wait to come back next year. The accommodation was comfortable and luxurious, with all the modern conveniences while still feeling lovely and rural. Kerry and Tomas are thoughtful, excellent hosts, and the place absolutely deserves its five-star rating.

We loved it so much that we extended our first booking twice, then came back for another two weeks. It’s peaceful but handy for shops, and a great base for exploring the Dordogne. The villa has everything you need for a fantastic stay, and it’s set a very high standard for holiday accommodation. Kerry & Tomas are kind hosts who make you feel at home and are always willing to help. We’ll definitely return, though I suspect it’ll be booked up for years. It’s the best Villa / Gite we’ve ever stayed in.

The food was a real pleasure, with generous breakfasts made to suit us, lovely plant-based lunches and delicious suppers using beautiful ingredients grown there or nearby. Tomas took real pride in cooking for us, and the meals were a treat for those of us with gluten-free and lactose intolerances. Kerry and Tomas were wonderful company and made us feel like welcome friends, helping with local sights, area knowledge and the best routes home for drivers. The house was warm and inviting, special and homely all at once. I also loved the brilliant watercolour course run by fabulous Christine Forbes. I didn't get to use the pool because I had a cold, though everyone else enjoyed it and it looked lovely. I was shown around Beaux Reves, which I didn't stay in. It’s beautiful and would make a perfect base for a family or two exploring this stunning part of France. It has its own pool. Christine Forbes' Watercolour holiday was amazing. She’s relaxed and encouraging, with really useful demonstrations. She took us out for plein air painting and made sure we each had quality one-on-one time. By the end, you could see everyone’s progress. She’s easy-going and interesting to spend time with, as well as a great tutor. I really recommend her watercolour holiday here.
