La Tour de Saint Cyr

The room and bathroom were clean, tidy, and attractive, and the price was reasonable. It's a beautiful modern house behind a gate in a quiet neighborhood, but this is a room in someone's home rather than really a B&B. The hostess was pleasant enough, though we often felt as if we were in her way. Eating breakfast in their dining room felt awkward, and even though we'd paid for a room, we felt like a nuisance. We should have chosen a hotel or a proper B&B. Breakfast was enough to get us going, but it was sparse: baguette, croissant, butter and jam packets, orange juice, coffee, sliced Swiss cheese, and Activa yogurt if requested. Of the 12 places we stayed in France, this was the poorest breakfast. There are also very few places to eat nearby. Check-in was another problem. We arrived at 3 because it was hard to predict our cycling arrival time, but the hostess insisted on the 5pm check-in. It was raining, so we had to wait outside, then gave up and walked back down into town because we couldn't get an Uber in that area.

Really great, and I'd definitely recommend it!

It's right in the center of Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, and we found a bottle of mineral water waiting when we arrived. The room is on the small side, but the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom is perfect. We also had a nice private entrance, a very welcoming hostess, and an excellent breakfast. I recommend it.

Breakfast was generous, though we ate it in the owners' dining room, and the welcome was very good. But this isn't a hotel or, to me, a bed and breakfast. There's just one room for rent in the owners' house. There's no TV, and parking is in the courtyard. You have to position the car very precisely so the owner can get into their garage. I had booked three nights but left after two. Even though I'd already paid for the third night and breakfast, the owner asked me for another €2 in taxes. In my opinion, this is simply a rented room, not a hotel or B&B.
