The garden gave our children space to enjoy themselves, and we got to relax before heading on. I only wish we’d had more time there, we’ll definitely come back. Monique made us feel at home from the start, and not speaking French wasn’t a problem for her. Our room was spotless, comfortable, nicely decorated, and had fresh flowers. The building and peaceful surroundings are lovely. The water was cold in the evening but hot by morning, perhaps because this rural place runs on a tank. Breakfast was gorgeous, with warm pastries, homemade jams, and cake.

We stopped here on friends’ recommendation, and it was just right for our stay. The room had plenty of space and was comfortable. Monique was wonderful, made us feel very welcome, and let us enjoy her beautiful grounds. Dinner was simple, suitable, and very much enjoyed.

The evening meal was simple but lovely, and breakfast was good too. Monique gave us a warm welcome, and we found the room comfortable. It’s superbly placed just off the scenic velo cycling route.

Even three years later, we still remember Haut Montraye as the highlight of our trip through Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. My brother-in-law and his wife were travelling with us as the second couple, and they share the same memories of a wonderfully clean and welcoming place. The owners had such a good spirit, and breakfast was delicious. The house has real charm. It’s a little out of the way, but for a romantic stay in the French countryside, it would be hard to find a better spot.

A quiet spot out in the country, and a very good one-night stay for us. Breakfast was good. Just a note, the drinks offered when you arrive aren’t complimentary!
