We loved how the homemade food tasted, and you could feel the care behind it. The interiors are beautiful, the welcome was warm and genuine, and the whole place has a special character. From the start, the hosts made us feel like family, opening both their home and their hearts. It really felt like a home away from home. We’ll be back ❤️

La Rose du petit Bois feels like a lovely retreat just outside Lyon, even though it’s only a few minutes from one of the main roads out of the city. We were warmly received by the hosts, and our cozy, comfortable room had everything we needed. That evening, we had a wonderful Lyonnaise-style meal at the auberge.

It’s a quiet, peaceful spot, with very nice food and a property that’s exceptionally clean. The host family gave us a really warm welcome. The location is outstanding, and the place itself turned out to be an amazing surprise. It’s well worth the trip even though it isn’t close to Lyon’s center.

The house has a distinctive feel in its decor and layout, and our room was comfortable, with a very good bed. We enjoyed the quiet, as well as the homemade breakfast and its exquisite yogurts. Thank you, Anne! The welcome felt warm and personal, like visiting friends. We’d be glad to return in the warmer months for the pool, garden, and shared dining.

The location is peaceful yet practical, and the welcome, atmosphere, and cooking all make this a wonderful place to stay. The French cuisine is refined and professional, and the garden and swimming pool are lovely extras. I recommend it without hesitation if you’re looking for an authentic French atmosphere near Lyon, in one of the most beautiful villages of the Monts d'Or.
