That lunch turned into something we’ll remember. Denis and his wife made us feel welcome, and even though we struggled with the language, Google Translate helped us sort out what to order. Moules for me, steak for my wife, with local wine, then homemade tarte tatin. Everything was first class. We hadn’t planned to stay. We were driving through this lovely village when the Auberge du Doulon caught our eye in the autumn sunshine. The locals were nearly finished eating, so we wondered if we’d arrived too late. The lively family put us at ease, and the owner told me they’d serve food to order morning, noon or night. They’d taken over just a week or two before covid. It’s off the beaten track, but absolutely worth finding.

A handy spot, surrounded by nature. The family runs the place together, parents and children, and we found both the hospitality and the food excellent.

We found the innkeepers thoughtful and attentive, and they even suggested motorcycle routes around the region. The meals were generous, the welcome warm, and the prices very fair. A charming little inn, highly recommended.

The room is lovely and bright, with seasonal decor, and opens onto a private terrace overlooking greenery. The young team is full of energy. Their menu of the day often has something interesting, with good local produce at fair prices. It’s best to book ahead.
