The beds were comfortable and the rooms seem to have been renovated recently, better than you'd expect from an average 2*. My only problem was checking in after hours. Three of my cards didn't work, and when I called, the person spoke only limited English.

The staff were incredibly kind and made us feel at home. I've stayed in several budget hotels, and this was probably one of my best Ibis Budget stays. For the comfort and quality, it felt like an absolute bargain. We stopped at Ibis Budget Saint-Dié-des-Vosges on a family drive from Paris to Italy. It's in a quiet, picturesque mountain area with plenty of free parking, which was a big plus. The room was larger than expected, modern, spotless, and clearly renovated to a high standard. Internet worked well, and the continental breakfast set us up nicely for the day. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby and good petrol prices. I'd happily recommend it to anyone passing through.

We arrived at Ibis Budget Saint-Dié-des-Vosges at 10 pm, but there was no receptionist and the self check-in machine wasn't working. We had to go across the street to the other Ibis hotel to sort it out. Things were also disappointing on the third day: there were only two bath towels for four people, one bed hadn't been made, and there was no toilet paper. With no receptionist after 10 pm, we had to manage in those conditions.

The hotel was clean, the bed comfortable, and the TV average, though live football was on, which suited me. Wi-Fi was free, but unavailable for maintenance until it was back by 06:00. A few minutes' walk away, across the bridge and to the left, there are several great bars and restaurants. I'm not very happy with the place because of the parking. The listing says there is free parking nearby. I'm a disabled pensioner, and I parked opposite the hotel with my blue badge and timer showing. Getting into the hotel was a real hassle at first, but after my tiring 14 hour drive from Italy through Switzerland to St.Die, I got to my room, showered, went to bed, and fell asleep. When I woke up, I had a parking ticket. I hadn't even checked out the “free parking.” The receptionist's English was about as good as my French, and now I have to find the police station and pay for parking illegally, though I didn't mean to. You get what you pay for: it's a budget hotel, and not the worst, but they really need to explain the parking situation.

We had a very nice stay with the family in the renovated rooms, and I'd be happy to come back. There's plenty of free parking opposite the hotel.
