La Boisselée

Cedric was great with directions and even offered us a later checkout, though we had to head home by car. We were there for a concert at Chateau Chambord, and the tiny house had everything we needed. I’d happily stay again if I’m back in the area.

The gite has lovely views from its spot on the Loire’s bank, and it’s spacious and very well equipped. The owner was so friendly too. We had a great stay.

We left as soon as we found somewhere else to stay. After dozens of hotels, hostels and home stays in France, we’d never had an experience like this. The price felt far too high for what was provided, and the place was dirty, which was especially concerning when things needed sanitizing during Covid. The so-called mobile house felt claustrophobic and was full of insects and spiders. The shower was basically a cupboard covered in spider webs. The bed for two was only a one-meter-wide couch and didn’t look clean. The bathroom was called private, but getting to the toilet meant crossing 50 meters of garden. There was no light until an automatic lamp came on when you were about two meters away. The wooden toilet cabin was just 1 m2 and exposed to anyone on the property or coming from the road, since the garden gate was open to the road during the day. Its inside light didn’t work, leaving it completely dark and impossible to use.

I’ve never had that kind of aroma and relaxation before. Perfect.
