We stayed four days and were very happy there. The hosts were attentive and caring, and the rooms were clean, comfortable and well furnished. Ask for a garden view. There’s private parking just steps from the back door, and the hotel is one street from the main town, so you’re right in magical Saint Emilion. A perfect spot for exploring the town and the area around it.

The pool and outdoor space are lovely, and the location is great. The staff were lovely too, but the dated interior really needs freshening up. The bathrooms only have handheld showers, which I hadn’t expected even at a three-star hotel. It was also so quiet that the atmosphere felt a bit awkward, and you could hear other guests’ conversations. Some music on the terrace would help. Breakfast was okay, and I did enjoy the stay overall.

For what it costs, the facilities and little extras felt cheap. The plumbing hasn’t been updated, there were no face towels or shampoo, and pool towels cost extra. The tub had a shower handle smaller than my hairbrush, and when I asked about shampoo, I was told to use the liquid soap. We also weren’t allowed to picnic on the grounds at lunchtime, despite all the tables and yard space, and they didn’t serve food. Outrageous for the price. Never again.

Parking right on the premises was a rare bonus in an old town location, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were there in the off-season, so only used the inside. The towel warmer didn’t work, and the hot water took a while to come through. A few restaurants were open nearby at that time of year.

The hotel is central, with good restaurants within walking distance. Our room was on the small side but clean. We had a problem with the bath, but the staff sorted it out quickly.
