Breakfast made with local produce was delicious, and Nadege was a lovely host. The castle rooms are amazing. Such a fantastic place, I’d highly recommend visiting.

The dinner Linda and Nina prepared was out of this world, and they were wonderful hosts. We came from America for our honeymoon and found just the peaceful escape we wanted from busy New York. The home sits between Southern France and Spain, so we could take in the sights and still return to the beautiful Basque countryside. Its renovation is extensive, but the centuries-old Basque charm has been preserved. We’ll definitely be back.

The hosts are caring, breakfast is terrific, and the eco-friendly renovation has been handled with care. It’s an exceptional historic Basque castle, ideal for getting away from it all. Definitely underpriced for what you get. Keep up the good work, "les fous"!

A real treat, with great food and lovely company, tucked away in the Basque countryside.

We spent a week at the Gîte des Fous du Village in Saint-Esteben, and it went by far too fast. The building is magnificent, and the Fous du Village welcomed us so warmly. We loved the food, the comfort, and the whole atmosphere, with its lovely, warm energy. It feels like a little corner of paradise in the heart of the Basque Country. We’ll be back for sure!
