If you’re driving, I’d highly recommend this lovely countryside bed and breakfast. It has the feel you’d expect from one in France. It’s a little way outside Saint Etienne, and cell service was patchy on my Orange SIM, which made ride-shares to and from the B&B difficult. If you rely on public transport and ride-shares, somewhere closer to the city would suit you better.

I’ve stayed here several times for work trips in the area. The setting is peaceful, with lovely views, and the rooms are spacious and clean. Reception is always top notch.

We felt at home in this authentic place, tucked into nature, and had a great time talking with our host, René. It was so peaceful that it felt like time had stopped. There’s also one of the most beautiful views of the Loire gorges just a short walk away. We’d warmly recommend a stay here.

Our host made the stay special. He was charming, knew the region well, and gave us useful tips for exploring. We were welcomed warmly and had a really pleasant, friendly time at this bed and breakfast.

There’s a kitchen available if you want to eat on site, and parking is provided for cars since it’s a hiking center. Our room was spacious and had every comfort. The welcome was hard to beat. It cost €80 per night, with a generous breakfast included, and felt like better value than a hotel. A great base for exploring the region, give it a try.
