8/10
The room was on the small side, and the entrance felt a little claustrophobic, though everything had been newly decorated. One nice touch was the free water in the corridor, a good way to cut down on plastic. The hotel sits on the outskirts of Saint Etienne, which worked well for us coming off the highway, but there wasn't much nearby for food or a drink.

We only stayed one night, but the room was great. Its spot north of the centre suited us well for driving, and having the hotel's own parking plus a tram stop right there made getting around convenient.

The room was cozy, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. The chef’s meals were the best I’ve had, and everyone working at the hotel was incredibly friendly. Well done to the whole team.

4/10
The staff were pleasant and polite, but I wouldn't choose this hotel again. The Wi-Fi didn't work despite being advertised, and the phone signal in the room was very weak. It's an old, small place, with a basic, cramped room that was just about fine for one business night. Breakfast was basic too, and at 14 EUR felt overpriced for what was offered. This was my first stay in the area, where I expect to visit regularly once or twice a month over the next two or three years, but I don't think there'll be a second stay here.

I wouldn't go back. The room was tiny, which I can live with, but a lot of things in it were dirty or damaged. Worst of all, the bathroom smelled strongly of drains or mold.
