ibis Styles Saint Etienne Gare Châteaucreux

It’s opposite the train station, and the OUIBUS stop is less than a five-minute walk up the street, so getting here from Lyon airport is easy. Several cafes right next door have indoor and outdoor seating, and the desk staff are friendly and speak English. The hotel is quaint and no-frills, with very comfortable beds and a lovely breakfast room. There’s no air conditioning, so it may not be a great choice in summer. The room shown in the photos is the unusual triangle-shaped one, but most rooms are standard in size and shape. The triangle rooms are 112, 212, 312, and 412. If you need air conditioning, there’s a hotel literally next door that has it.

A good place to stay in Saint Etienne, especially for a business trip. It’s close to the Gare, and there’s a nice restaurant where you can have dinner. You can also get 10% discount vouchers at reception.

Breakfast was nice, and the lady serving it was very friendly, though the room gets too crowded. The rooms were about what you’d expect at other IBIS hotels. The front desk staff didn’t seem very interested or customer-focused. I’d pick another hotel next time I’m in St. Etienne.

The rooms were clean, the staff were great, and breakfast had a lovely selection. I did lose a star because the room was cleaned a little too thoroughly: they threw out my TENS machine pads and my favorite travel towel. Grrrrrrr.
