The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, and both the room and breakfast were excellent. It’s also well placed for the tram. I’d happily recommend the hotel and hope to come back in the summer.

I found this place by chance after driving from Lyon and arriving late at night, and it turned out to be a lucky pick. The double room was roomy, with a comfortable bed. It’s a pleasant boutique hotel in a quiet spot that’s convenient for the tram, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Chloe especially made me feel welcome and explained how to get around Saint Etienne.

You’re locked out of the hotel for an hour every Saturday afternoon and for four hours each Sunday while they clean, and you can’t stay in your own room. With nearby shops and restaurants closed on Sundays, there’s nowhere to go. You also have to leave your key at reception whenever you go out. The staff felt creepy: nobody was at the desk, then someone would appear as I walked up, as if they’d been watching the cameras. Staff told me not to order room service because it’s a frozen meal heated in a microwave. I don’t recommend this place.

It was clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the underground parking. My room had no outside window, and breakfast was a little sparse, just bread and meat.
