For the price, it’s a good deal, and we were mostly left to enjoy our stay. The garden is lovely and peaceful, though the dog did bark a lot at times. The house is spacious with a 1970s feel, and it was nice waking up to ponies nearby. The garden feels private despite the owners running a riding business in one of the fields. It was comfortable enough during the day, but got cold at night, so I’d say it suits spring or summer better. One odd moment was when the owner came by late at night to say we couldn’t use the bathroom light, bringing a portable one for us to use instead.

The location is lovely for walks and bike rides with a dog, surrounded by nature, and the terrace looked inviting when we arrived, with shade from the trees, a swing, and a ping-pong table. Inside, though, the stay was a real disappointment. There was a damp, moldy smell and spiders everywhere, so we hardly dared open the windows. The sleeping area was gloomy, with carpeted floors, mirrored walls along the hall, and a dark carpeted ceiling. The mattresses sagged into hollows, and the downstairs bathroom had wooden slats near the ceiling hiding a high, black ceiling full of cobwebs. Cheap curtains covered worn-out windows, and there weren’t enough dishes for six. The cottage was meant for six people, but parking could barely fit two cars. The toaster tripped the breaker, and we were simply told not to use it again. The owner’s dog barked from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., so there was no peace and quiet, and the owner wasn’t very welcoming either. I came for a week in August to visit family, and the interior badly needs renovating.

The cottage has been kept in its original state, which is exactly what gives it its charm and authentic feel. We’ve had another lovely holiday here, surrounded by countryside, with a peaceful setting while still close to everything we needed. It really does feel like stepping back into the 70s.

Since 2013, I’ve kept coming back to the Moulin de Saint Georges for a few days at a time, sometimes with family and sometimes for seminars. I love the charming place, the warm welcome, and the lovely surroundings. I recommend this gîte to friends and clients alike, and I’m already looking forward to coming back. Géraldine

The children loved our stay in the former mill, with its architect-designed decor and windows looking out over the terraces and green spaces. It’s a wonderful place to discover, only 1.5 hours from Paris. The welcome was attentive without being intrusive, and we left feeling relaxed.
