Camping de Montréal ***

An easy five-minute detour off the A20, so handy for a stop whether you’re heading north or south. The pitches look out over a lovely lake, and there are good dog walks around it. The medieval village, with a shop and boulangerie, is about a ten-minute walk away. Facilities are all there, including clean toilets with paper. There’s also a nice restaurant with a varied, inexpensive menu, and you can have a drink on the terrace overlooking the water. This former municipal site south of Limoges is now run by an English lady and her husband. A bargain at the ACSI rate of €20. We’ll be back.

The owners were so friendly, and everything in the shower and toilet blocks was spotless. We ate at the Bar Restaurant, where all the food is freshly cooked. It was really good and great value. We’ll definitely come back.

The restaurant’s takeaway pizza and fries were very good, and our pitch by the lake was nice. The facilities were clean, though a little dated. My only concern was how fast people from the top of the site were driving. That could worry anyone with children.

The food had lots of choice and was excellent, and the cocktails were good too. We only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed longer. It’s a small site not far from the motorway, with everything we needed: hot showers, clean facilities, decent-sized pitches, a bar and restaurant, a lake with water activities, and a swimming pool. We’d definitely return.
