Chambres d'Hôtes de Charme : Le Clocher du May

The place itself is nice, but the hostess made us want to leave almost as soon as we arrived, which felt ridiculous for a night at that price. She seemed suspicious of guests damaging things, and gave us a tour as if we were teenagers who’d booked an Airbnb to wreck it. She explained the bench for our suitcases, how to close the curtains gently, and how to use the shower without splashing too much. Even the gate remote came with a long warning about pressing the right button, not losing it, and parking without taking too much room because other guests were coming. In the morning she texted at 9 to say breakfast was ready, then at 9:30 to ask if we were awake, and again at 9:45 to ask if we were there. Then came repeated knocking and “breakfast is served.” She opened the outside shutter and saw my girlfriend naked. Not exactly what you want on a Sunday. At breakfast she even explained how the kettle and toaster worked. It wasn’t attentiveness, it felt clingy and intrusive. I won’t be going back.

Corinne gave us such a warm welcome at Le Clocher du May. The setting was peaceful and idyllic, and the room was incredibly comfortable, with every detail taken care of. Breakfast was both delicious and generous. We hope we can visit again. Thank you, Corinne!

We came from Lyon for a quiet night of rest after giving birth 😊, and were met with such a kind, helpful welcome. We had a wonderful stay at this gîte and would gladly recommend it. We’ll definitely return.
