L'Auberge Cigaloise

The restaurant's breakfast and evening menu were both tempting and tasty, and the staff were happy to help with information when they could. The auberge is also well placed for sightseeing, walks and sporting activities. I try not to let my love of France and goodwill get in the way of a fair review, but praise is due here. This 19th-century auberge/hotel has been renovated sympathetically. We were greeted warmly and shown straight to our first-floor room, which impressed us right away. We were pleased it had its own terrace/balcony, and the fan and terrace door gave us enough ventilation. A thick hedge screens the auberge from the nearby roundabout. There was a low to moderate amount of traffic, but it never really disturbed us. I'd highly recommend l'Auberge Cigaloise to anyone looking for an informal, unpretentious stay with great value for money. Our thanks to the proprietors, Gilles et Valérie Granier.

The food was delicious, probably the best place in St. Hippolyte. We did have to wait quite a while for dessert, but it was really good :)

Friendly staff, great value for the meal, and the remodeled dining room is nicely done. Highly recommended!

We were driving by at lunchtime and spotted the Restaurant signs, so we stopped in by chance, despite our limited French. They welcomed us warmly and found us a seat. The menu had a vegetarian option, and we got a beautiful starter followed by an even better main. Then my friend saw the next table's dessert, meringue and chestnut ice cream, and decided to order one too. Wow, it was one of the best meals we've had, and at a really great price.
