Villa Mayarko Lafitenia Resort

I had a room with direct pool access, and it was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The hotel has quiet, peaceful spaces, and the service was amazing. One of the best hotels in the southwest of France. Highly recommend.

The room won me over, especially that incredible view, and the amenities feel carefully thought through. I loved the heated pools and the good breakfast 😋. Our host was wonderful, well travelled, and speaks Spanish too. This blissful boutique hotel has a lot to offer families, couples, and solo travellers. You have to come experience Fr beautiful beaches and hospitality!

We won’t be coming back. I usually avoid leaving bad reviews because it can feel unfair when anyone might just be having a bad day, but I’m making an exception for Lafitenia Resort. During our two night stay, we saw little sign of the quality or service you’d expect from the advertised five stars. Star ratings mostly reflect facilities like a pool, gym, spa, restaurant, or grounds, but they don’t tell you about upkeep or how guests are treated. We were coming near the end of the season, and I understand that, but if a hotel stays open and takes bookings, it should provide what it advertises. There were only around 15-20 guests, so staffing seemed thin, and we really interacted with just one person. I couldn’t tell whether he was the owner, manager, receptionist, concierge, or working in the bar or restaurant. His appearance was unkempt, and his behavior, dour manner, and lack of interest in almost everything left a very poor impression. He seemed to hate his job, his guests, or both. Sir, life’s too short to stay in work you don’t love. I don’t have the energy to go into more detail about the condition of the property and rooms, breakfast, maintenance, or lack of attention to detail. The listing’s five stars and pretty photos set an expectation that our stay didn’t meet. Don’t choose a hotel by its star rating alone.

So peaceful and relaxing, with a lovely flower-filled garden, pools, and such nice people. I’d gladly come back and highly recommend this resort.
