Loches, the next town, is lovely, with historic sights, shops, restaurants and cafés. If you want to leave the car somewhere and explore on foot, I’d stay there. Getting around from this property on foot or by bike feels dangerous: the D943 and D41 are both fast roads without paths for pedestrians or cyclists, and there’s nothing close enough to make the risk worthwhile. There’s a waterfall spot along the Indre in nearby St-Jean-St-Germain that may be mentioned. It’s picturesque, but when we got there, groups of teenagers on motorbikes and bicycles were doing wheelies in front of cars and jumping into water that didn’t look very clean. My wife, our 15 year old son and I were cycling around to scout places to stay in the Loire for a future trip, so we rode up this property’s driveway. The female owner met us there looking sour and was rude. She didn’t ask why we were there, just immediately scolded us for being on her land. I explained Google Maps had brought us there. She said, “I DON'T CARE” and “DON'T TELL ME ABOUT GOOGLE MAPS,” then told me never to come back. Fair enough, laughing emoji. I’d sleep on a bench before staying here. I can’t understand how someone running a customer focused business could be so rude to people she’d never met. If anything came up with the property or service, I strongly suspect dealing with her would be a nightmare. Anyone thinking of staying should consider that carefully.

We found this B&B to be a lovely surprise. The house has real character and history, and sits in a quiet spot with a beautiful view over the countryside. It’s well placed for several nice sights. The rooms were comfortable and pleasant, breakfast was good, and the hosts were very friendly, with helpful suggestions for places to visit and restaurants. A great place to stay.

A striking building at the end of a long drive, and a rare find. The owner greeted us at the door and the service was attentive and fantastic. Loved the decor and the stay!

I’ve been back a few times, and somehow each stay has topped the one before. Thanks for making it such a good visit every time.
