The harbor was just 10 minutes away, and the on-site parking was great. The room was on the small side, which I expected, but the air conditioning was really poor. Better than having none, I guess, though it looks like it dates from the 80s and could use an overhaul. We left early, but the check-in desk was closed and there was nowhere obvious to leave the key card, so we ended up leaving it in the room. A drop box for early checkouts would help.

The room itself was clean and tidy, but the arrival and departure arrangements were a mess. We got there at 9:40 pm to find reception shut and the place completely dark. There was no self check-in machine or access information on the booking confirmation, so after a 600-mile drive I had to phone the emergency number to get instructions. Then I needed to leave at 5:30 the next morning for my ferry, but the security gate was locked and I hadn't been given the code. Another call to the emergency contact. The check-in and checkout process needs sorting out, with clear instructions on the confirmation.

Breakfast was delicious, and it was clean with everything you need nearby. The staff were all lovely and kind, and available whenever needed.

We couldn't sleep all night because the old mattresses made us feel every spring. Keeping the blanket on didn't help, and the room was dirty with bugs in it. Please see the pictures. The manager was very hard to get hold of. It seems they attract people with the prices and old photos of the place, then make the booking non-refundable. Terrible hotel. Stay away.

There were nice places to eat within walking distance, and the staff were really friendly. The rooms are simple, but mine was clean and had everything I needed. No complaints at all 👍
