We’re home now, and already missing Château de Sannat, especially Jacques and Claude and how warmly they welcomed us. They were so kind, and always happy to share tips for seeing the Limousin region, from its medieval villages and museums to the countryside and local food. We spent two dreamlike weeks there. The house feels authentic and charming, and it’s comfortable, well equipped, and beautifully decorated. The gardens are magnificent, the night skies are full of stars, and every late afternoon brings a different sunset and a lovely mix of colors. The photos are beautiful, but still don’t capture how lovely and well-kept the place is.

I’ve stayed in both winter and summer, and there’s always something to enjoy: a walk in the park or French garden, a book beside the fire, a little piano practice, time by the heated pool, tennis, or heading out to explore the region. Claude and Jacques lovingly look after the garden. It’s a peaceful, cozy taste of château life, and a lovely place to recharge and reconnect with nature. The French food is made with organic produce from local makers, too. An address to treasure.

What a lovely find. The Château is bright and sits in a great spot on a hill, with pretty views across a valley that brought Tuscany to mind. I agree completely with Julien Boulanger :-)!

We had a wonderful week here with four families, thanks in large part to Jack and Claude’s warm welcome and fantastic house. The one small downside is that the decking around the pool needs replacing after this summer’s heatwave.
