Le Vaumurier de Saint Lambert

We came away from the stay feeling that it was a disaster, even though the location is lovely. It's in the Chevreuse countryside, not far from Versailles, with pretty cottages around it. Our first-floor room looked over the garden and was okay, but the old kitchenette and bathroom were below standard, and the bed corners and other angles were absurdly sharp. We had no water for almost three hours on Saturday morning, so there was no shower or flushing the toilet. There was a leak in the building, and the hosts spent much of that morning arguing outside our room. The water came back, then stopped again in the afternoon because the hostess had sent the house supply to her garden sprinkler. That was especially inconvenient and inconsiderate when people come to the area for Saturday weddings. The hosts were pleasant, but completely ineffective. Two aggressive dogs were loose around the house and garden. The hostess called the Doberman “gentille,” but even as a six-foot person used to dogs, I ran from it once and was scared to leave the room alone. One afternoon a four-year-old guest was nearly attacked, or at least barked at frighteningly, and was left traumatized. On a 30-degree afternoon, he and his father were also told the pool wasn't for guests. I wouldn't trust these hosts to run a safe family bed and breakfast. Avoid at all costs.
