Such a beautiful spot.

The food was a highlight: Pierre Jourdan can really cook. We had snails, lamb, and dessert, all proper French cooking, maybe old school, but who cares when it tastes this good? Pierre and his wife made us feel so welcome, and the Auberge du Viaduc has a dreamy, almost time-travel feel, like stepping back into the 70s. We booked the “suite” for €149 a night. A little decadent, sure, but worth every penny. We only stayed one night on our way home, which was a shame. If you get the chance, take it. Yes, yes, absolutely yes.

The food is delicious, the chef is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. It’s an address worth going out of your way for, whether you’re stopping overnight or staying longer. The hotel is comfortable and very quiet, with a pleasant setting. Dogs are welcome, even large ones, and you can tell the owners love animals. Definitely a place to discover.

Birdsong was all around us on the terrace, with the road and occasional cars barely noticeable in the distance. It’s a lovely, peaceful setting in a beautiful house. We had a very pleasant lunch. The welcome was warm, and the service was excellent, attentive without hovering. One of us chose the set menu and the other ordered à la carte. Both plates were presented beautifully.

We stayed at the inn for two nights, though we didn’t try the restaurant. The welcome and service were impeccable, with the woman who seemed to handle almost everything taking great care of us. It was peaceful, apart from some road noise and a few trains passing behind the pool. The room felt a bit dated, although the bed was good. At this price, I’d expect some of the facilities to be updated. Breakfast by the pool on the terrace was nice, but a little expensive at €12, with another €3 for an espresso. Still, it’s a good stop for a night or two near the Vercors mountains.
