Mas Lo Faix

The care here shows up in little ways. They noticed how often we swam and left extra towels in our room. When rain caught the swimsuit we'd left out to dry, someone washed and dried it and put it back in the room. Nothing felt fussy or intrusive. We were welcomed and listened to, and people took time to point out walks, horses, or whatever else might interest us. I felt like I mattered, whoever I was. The setting was lovely too. From the pool, we watched clouds drift over the Pyrenees and the weather shift by the minute, then came out to find hot coffee waiting. At night the stars came out in complete quiet, while the taste of a wonderful meal still lingered. The people who cooked grow their own food, and every meal was just right. A very special place. I hope I can go back.

We spent three nights in a beautifully restored farmhouse, surrounded by Pyrenean forest with the peaks in view. A stay I'll remember.

My husband and I first tried Lo Faix in spring, and liked it so much that we came back in July with eight friends. Our group of ten slept well in the comfortable bedrooms, had coffee and espresso in the guest dining room, and chose to eat all our meals at the restaurant patio beside the pool. The chef, pastry chef, and sous chefs made fantastic food. The resort is in the Pyrenees in the South of France, and the grounds are immaculate. Staff were available to take care of whatever we needed. We spent our days hiking in the woods, swimming, and visiting nearby Figueres and Perpignan. We'd taken a chance on this newly opened place in early May. There's a separate guest house with private rooms and en suite bathrooms, plus its own living room, dining room, and kitchen. The resort is also handicapped accessible. Mas Lo Faix is a lovely treat I'd recommend.

Lo Faix has older facilities, but the rooms were quite comfortable, and swimming in the pool and dining beneath the grape arbor were both lovely. The scenery is gorgeous, the food was among the best we had in France, and the people were wonderful. A dedicated crew of young hosts run the place with so much joy and energy, putting their hearts into making it a happy retreat. I know I'll be back.
