Holiday Inn Nice-Port St Laurent by IHG

We only stayed one night, and as an IHG platinum member I honestly don't get the negative reviews. Our garden view was beautiful, the rooms were great, and the gym was well equipped. The reception and breakfast areas have been renovated really nicely, and Nice city is very close.

Carla made us feel truly treasured with her kindness and thoughtfulness. Everyone else we met was polite, professional, and helpful too. We had a spacious, clean, comfortable room, and the grounds were lovely. The location was really convenient. If we come back to the south of France, we'd most certainly stay here again.

The lobby made a strong impression, and the room was much larger than I'd expected for my first stay at a Holiday Inn. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast wasn't bad either. Still, the room itself disappointed me: the facilities felt dated, cleanliness wasn't great, the safe didn't work, and the old furniture wasn't functioning properly. The Wi-Fi was weak and slow, and kept disconnecting. The bathroom arrangement also made me uncomfortable. The toilet and bathroom were completely separate, so I had to go around the corner to wash my hands, while the liquid soap was awkwardly placed in the corner instead of by the sink. There wasn't even a trash can by the toilet. I was a little embarrassed because the bathroom seemed likely to flood every time I showered. I couldn't find a grocery market nearby either. I'm sorry, but I still don't understand why my husband picked this place instead of Niceville. Maybe a renovation would help.

The staff were very polite and professional, and the hotel was in fair condition. Two things spoiled our stay. The hotel doesn't have its own beachfront area, despite how the ads make it look. It works with a local business, so guests have to pay extra. We also couldn't enjoy the lovely balcony because the guests next door smoked. We couldn't even open the balcony door without smoke coming into our room. The hotel needs stricter smoking rules.
