We were driving from Paris to see castles and stayed here in mid-May. Apparently it wasn’t quite the season yet, and we had the place to ourselves, but the timing felt perfect to me: flowers everywhere, pleasant weather, neither cold nor hot. This was one of the most amazing farmhouses I’ve visited, and I’ve stayed in many. The grounds are gorgeous, with flowers, little rabbits, sheep, and lovely birds. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful little details. The shared kitchen had everything we needed, including pots, pans, tea, coffee, and a big wooden table with comfortable chairs. The pool was super clean, and the sauna got hot enough. The farm is 15 minutes from Chardor, which we visited the evening before check-in, and 30 minutes from Cheverny, where we went in the morning. Highly recommend it.

We wanted a calm, relaxing honeymoon after our wedding, so we booked two nights. The team was professional and made sure guests had a good experience, and we felt at home in the peaceful natural surroundings. Self check-in after 8 pm is practical. The kitchen and dining room setup is unique, and you can keep food in the fridge. The rooms stay clean if you prefer not to bring takeaways into them. We couldn’t order the chef’s food because the menu didn’t suit what we eat, though it’s a practical option for anyone who’d rather not go out to eat. Chambord castle is about 15 minutes away, but the garden, pool, sauna, and hammam make it easy to disconnect and enjoy staying in. I’d definitely recommend it!

We had the whole gorgeous property to ourselves during our stay. The breakfast was delicious, and the pool, cold pool, hammam, and sauna made a lovely way to end the day. Finding the entrance is tricky: you have to drive down a path that feels like off-roading.

The manager was incredibly helpful and nice, and the gardens and countryside setting were beautiful. The accommodation was just right, with lovely interior design. We borrowed bikes and cycled along the river to restaurants to the south, then had a bottle of sparkling Loire wine on the riverbank. We also picked up food at the local supermarket and used the massive kitchen. La Barboire Campagne was a peaceful, wonderful last escape before I left france for a new job. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

The host made us feel very welcome, and the bar menu and wines were great. The garden is beautifully maintained, the rooms are nicely finished, and the whole place is so quiet and soothing. One of the best countryside stays I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.
