Blue Margouillat Seaview Hotel

We really loved how relaxed the place felt. The staff were great, and dinner was a highlight, with lovely food, service, and atmosphere. The cheese room was great too. A few things bothered me, even allowing for how picky I’m being. The shower was comically small, to the point that I’d call it dangerously small. In-room coffee is limited to two a day, then extra pods cost €4 each. Breakfast was lovely, but at €30 per person, the portions were tiny and the choice quite limited. We also couldn’t book a rate that included breakfast. If you have dinner, which I highly recommend, be ready for the wine list. It has more bottles over €1,000 than bottles at €100 or less. Otherwise, it’s what you’d expect from a five-star hotel.

We spent just two days at Blue Margouillat at the end of our honeymoon, and I wish we’d stayed for the whole trip. The grounds are gorgeous, and the peaceful atmosphere had us relaxing straight away. Everyone we met was warm, welcoming, and attentive. We also had one of the best meals of our lives at the restaurant. The whole stay was exceptional, and we can’t wait to come back.

The hotel is far from everything, which was fine for us, but it could work with tour and transport companies to give guests more options. Staff were friendly, though they didn’t offer much help or information. The rooms were clean but very small, with limited amenities for a five-star hotel. Breakfast tasted good, but the servings were tiny. Also, after the first two cups, room coffee is charged, which isn’t usual. The experience felt more like a three-star hotel than a five-star one.

The hotel was beautiful, and we loved the amazing view from our room. They also made getting our rental car easy by dropping us off to collect it. When we left, they gave us homemade olive oil and vinaigrette, such a lovely touch. We stayed for the first three nights of our honeymoon. Our travel agent had said the restaurant was the best on the island, but the food still blew us away. It’s easily the best we’ve ever eaten, and probably will ever eat. The cheese cellar is really special, especially if you love cheese. We hope to visit this special hotel again.
