Chambre d'hôtes St Jacques

We came with bikes and were glad there was a place to keep them. Julien, the owner, was lovely and welcoming, shared stories about the place, and gave us all the information we needed. Breakfast was really good, with plenty of variety and quality. The rooms are spacious, with cozy lighting and balconies, and we really appreciated having tea and coffee. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was a treat. The house itself is beautiful, with wood, natural light, and lovely details. It’s peaceful and quiet, with gorgeous views and lovely land around the property. You can feel how much care and work has gone into it. Grand merci! We’ll be back!

Be warned, after staying here, you might never want to go home. St Jacques is incredibly peaceful, and the view is amazing. The people are friendly, the homemade breakfast is to die for, and there’s a lovely large pool surrounded by colorful, fragrant plants. The owners’ advice about places to visit and walks helped us find places we never knew existed.

The pool was a blessing in the heat! Julien and Jo were so friendly, and everything was very clean. We had a fabulous few days in a lovely spot with lovely hosts. Breakfast was fab too, with homemade yoghurts and jams, fruit, and local bread. I’d recommend it to anyone.

We had such a fulfilling weekend, thanks to the hosts’ warm hospitality. It felt like home, and Joan and Julian are down to earth and warm. We’re trekkers who love nature and mountains, and this was the perfect getaway to relax and reconnect with nature. The lush green garden is something I’d die for. The couple have put their heart and soul into transforming this old house over 14 years, and the result is beautiful and inspiring. Getting there from Toulouse was easy even without a car. We took a train, then a bus, then walked from the main city, St. Lizier. We’re trekkers, so the walk was no big deal. Julien was very responsive on Facebook Messenger with details from the day we first contacted them about booking. As we’d been told, we brought enough food for lunch and dinner for two days. We spent our first evening watching a beautiful mountain sunset right from the stay 🌄. The next morning, birdsong woke us up. After breakfast, we walked around the village, visited the cathedral, and trekked to montCaliver. It was an easy walk, and with the good weather we even slept at the peak for an hour. In the evening, we spent time talking with Jo and his family ❤️, and I met all the goats and the horse 🥰. The whole family was welcoming, and even the dog 🐕 and cats 🐈 greeted us like they’d known us for ages. Breakfast included lots of fruit, croissants 🥐, bread, butter, milk, tea, homemade jam, and curd. Lunch and dinner weren’t provided, but the city is a 20-minute walk away. You can get sandwiches from the bakery or go farther to buy something at the big Lidi supermarket. On the way back, another guest kindly offered us a ride to Toulouse. This was our first stay after lockdown, and I’m definitely coming back for another unplanned weekend.
