Camping La Touesse

Once most of the Ascension weekend crowd left, the site became much quieter and we enjoyed our stay. The coastal path was lovely, and we visited St Malo by water bus from Dinard. The location is handy for the beach and Dinard, with a bus stop right outside. There's a nice pool, and the laundry machines are large and fast. For groceries, you'll need to drive to the larger supermarkets outside Dinard; the closest small shop is a village Carrefour in St Lunaire. We arrived on the last day of the holiday weekend knowing it would be busy, but it was extremely full. Lots of units were crammed into each pitch bay with little privacy. Our pitch wasn't shared and had a bit more room than many. Brambles from the hedge kept snagging and scratching us, so I had to cut them back. The first night was awful for noise, with neighbours talking outside after 1:30 am. The sanitary facilities were cleaned throughout the day, but only partly renovated. One block had newer, cleaner tiles and fittings, while the other looked old and worn. Once the crowds went, they closed the better block, leaving us with the shabby one. There were no toilet seats or soap. We didn't try the bar.

The short walk to the gorgeous sandy beach was a real highlight, and dogs are allowed there until 15/06. From the campsite, there's also a lovely coastal walk to Saint Lunaire and an easy 5 km urban walk into nearby chique Dinard. A bus stops right outside, running to St Briac in one direction and St Malo in the other. Two people paid 5 euros to St Malo/Dinard; our dog rode free but had to be carried in a bag. The owners suggested taking the boat from Dinard to St Malo, and it was perfect. We got such a warm welcome and plenty of useful information from the owners. Our pitch, no. 1, was a good size and clearly marked. The site is pretty, quiet, well equipped and well maintained. The toilet block was clean and nicely fitted out, though hand soap and a hand dryer would make it better. The washing-up and laundry area was great, but the water wasn't always very hot. Bring a washing-up bowl or a universal sink plug. We didn't use the restaurant or bar, but it was buzzing over the weekend and clearly popular without causing us noise. The indoor pool, little play area, games room and outdoor gym all looked good. LOVED this place and its atmosphere. We'd definitely come back. Thank you Camping La Touesse!

We had fun watching low tide and high tide, and the beach is just a 5-7 minute walk away. The campsite has everything in order, including a beautiful pool and an indoor cafeteria. The French were really into the Euro2024 football, which is part of the experience. For four people with electricity it was relatively expensive, though it is a campsite, not a hotel.

The site is spotless, and the location, facilities, little town and coastline are all great. What really stayed with us, though, was how the staff helped my in-laws when they had a medical emergency during their return visit this year. They supported them with hospital visits and emergency services until my wife could get there. The owners and staff were amazing, and we're deeply grateful for their kindness and help. Highly recommended.
