Les Chaumières du Lac

We had a great time and plan to ask for the same Wonderbox voucher for Christmas so we can return soon. We booked this stay with a Wonderbox "Unusual Night" voucher and were pleasantly surprised by the quality. The rooms were a good size, clean, quiet, and practical, with a terrace and a bathroom with a bathtub. The restaurant is gourmet and very refined. The menu isn't large, just three starters, three mains, and three desserts, but that seems to reflect how fresh the ingredients are. Staff were incredibly friendly without getting in the way. Breakfast had lots of variety and was delicious.

The rooms are cute, but next time we'll ask for one upstairs. The ground floor is an open passage anyone can access, with no clear boundaries apart from the privet hedges. The hotel itself was pleasant, with a warm welcome, modern, attractive decor, and a lovely park behind it. The restaurant was nice, but there was only one set menu at €21 and no à la carte choice. Portions were small, so it may not suit anyone with a hearty appetite.

As fellow bikers, we got a really warm welcome. In the morning we could leave our bags at reception and go sightseeing and have lunch without lugging them around. They were in our room when we got back that evening, and the next morning we again left them at reception and picked them up on our way home. The establishment is beautiful and very comfortable, and there's a very good restaurant on site. The bath towels were thick, soft, and lovely to use. Breakfast had a wide choice of sweet and savory food, all you can eat.

The staff were very friendly, which was a plus, but the setting had led me to expect more. The room was comfortable, especially the bed, yet the carpet was worn and the bathtub felt outdated. The TV was missing channels, including 5, 6, and 7. At the restaurant, the dishes looked beautiful but were very bland. The crayfish salad had no flavor, and the sirloin with pepper sauce was tasteless, though the meat itself was excellent. The Logis de France website lists it as 3 fireplaces and 3 "cocottes", which seems like a lot for this establishment.
