Le Clos Saint-Martin Hôtel & Spa

Le Clos Saint-Martin is well worth recommending. Bike hire was easy, the two pools were clean, and the sunbeds were comfortable. We also used the spa, with its very cold plunge bath, jacuzzi, and steam room or hammam. The rooms were immaculate, with quality fittings and furniture, and the beds and bedding were very comfortable. Staff were friendly and efficient, and we felt welcome from the start. We booked as a couple on our first visit to Ile de Rey, and when we accidentally had two bookings, reception cancelled one and moved the deposit to the other without any fuss. The hotel arranged a transfer from the Gare at La Rochelle, which worked out great. Breakfast had lots of food and drinks for different tastes, even oysters on Saturday morning. We didn’t eat dinner there because the menu was limited and there are so many restaurants around the port and in town that dining out felt more natural. I don’t think hotel meals are essential, though the lunch menu was very limited too.

We had an amazing stay with family and parents in August 2025. The facilities were great and the breakfast buffet delicious, but the staff stood out in particular. They were incredible and very well trained. We’ll be back.

We found this lovely little hotel after doing lots of research into luxury places on Il de Ré, and it exceeded our expectations. Tucked away, it’s still only a five-minute walk from the main port. Every staff member was so kind and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The brunch was phenomenal, we looked forward to it every morning. Guests get daily use of the spa, a lovely extra touch. I can’t think of a single complaint and can’t wait to return. I’ll recommend Le Clos Saint Martin to family and friends.

I tried the « Bord de Mer » massage at the Clarins Spa and would strongly recommend it. The treatment was very professional, and the spa itself is peaceful and relaxing, with a lovely design and luxury amenities.
