Malouinière des Trauchandieres

What a lovely place to stay, full of incredible history and with a wonderful host. We really enjoyed breakfast around a large table with the other guests. Honestly, the host should get the leaders of the world around that table and knock some sense into them!

Agnes and Claude made us feel so welcome and relaxed, as though we'd known them for years. Their stately home dates from the 16th century, has a rich history, and sits tucked into its own grounds. Many attractions are still easy to reach by car. Breakfast was generous, served at a big table where guests could meet and share stories and ideas. The decor is a bit dated, but it suits the charm of the place. Claude knows a lot about national and international affairs and always has an interesting story or two. I'd definitely return next time I'm in Brittany.

We slept very well in a big room with a good bathroom and very good WiFi. The hosts were friendly and spoke both French and English. It's dog friendly, with a huge garden out back. Breakfast was lovely, especially the croissants, which looked handmade at a local bakery, and the orange jam. We had car trouble and couldn't use it until Minday, but the hosts were very supportive. They took us to Saint Malo and brought us back so we wouldn't miss the holiday. For the hosts: I managed to get the car checked at the second service location on Monday. The computer showed no errors, but the alternateur failed 30 minutes before Paris, and I had to call assistance. It's good to deal with car problems promptly, since much worse things can happen. I had a hard time on the highway when the electronics failed.

I stayed with my parents in early April 2023, and we'd definitely like to come back for holidays more often. The property is beautiful, and the hosts are welcoming and interesting. Breakfast with Claude and Agnes brought fascinating conversation and made for a really memorable stay.
