Christmas made our stop feel especially memorable, though I can imagine the place being lovely in spring or summer too. Christine and Henri were warm and friendly, and hearing the chateau's history was even more meaningful once we learned it was family-owned. We arrived at 6pm on the way to Cognac and headed out for dinner soon after; several restaurants are within a 10 to 15 minute drive. The bath and shower were just the right size, with lovely simple decor, and the warm, cozy bedding gave us the best night's sleep of our week-long trip. We stayed one night, but it was a romantic evening and a place I'd gladly visit while traveling through France.

The breakfast was a treat, with their own honey and homemade jam, both really tasty. Our room was quiet and roomy, with tasteful decor, and there were plenty of outlets for our devices. The WiFi was easy to connect to, which was handy in a property like this. We came back to this charming chateau again this year, and Henri and Christine's welcome was just right, friendly without getting in the way.

The owners welcomed us when we arrived and took good care of us throughout our stay, which gave the place a really personal feel. We only spent one night in the family room, but it left a lasting impression. Everything was spotlessly clean and had the necessities we needed, with the atmosphere of a cozy museum. It was definitely worth the 15-minute detour from the highway.

The breakfast was freshly prepared and beautifully served, and the owners were friendly, outgoing, and local. Our bedroom was lovely, with lots of space, a small attached bathroom, and a superb view. The historic chateau has the feel of a fortified manor house, with interesting outbuildings and gardens around it. The surrounding countryside is rural and offers lovely views.
